The great organisation that is the GAA has traditionally had a wonderful way of resolving disputes within the confines of its ranks, more often than not away from the glaring eyes of the media. However in these past few weeks and days we have witnessed some quite bizarre happenings within the GAA world that will surely have rocked the traditionalists of our game back on their heels.

Well, I am thinking of becoming an advocate of that maxim because last Saturday night I was fortunate enough to have been at Croke Park for a stunning evening's entertainment. It was a privilege and massive pleasure to have been in attendance on a historic and memorable evening for the GAA.

How they perform against the current All-Ireland champions will tell us a lot about the real progress being made under Liam Sammon, and a win, especially up there, would do wonders for team morale and put the team in a good position going into a month with four consecutive games.

There was much to admire about Galway’s impressive win last Saturday night over Tyrone in Healy Park Omagh. Any time you beat the current All-Ireland champions is a good evening’s work and some of the Galway players enhanced their reputations with some sterling performances.
